Update from MAD HQ: Nkwamwasi primary school
This is the first project at Nkwamwasi primary school. Built by the community in 1961, it has 313 students. As it stands the standard one and two classes, roughly 7 and 8 year olds are sharing a class and the little resources they have.
In 1995, 4 children passed their schooling, while in 2007, 41 children passed, and so although the situation looks to be improving, these children desperately need their own teaching space, and as a result the purpose of this project is to convert a unused dining hall/classroom into a pre standard one class, combined with a library and store. Despite the number of pupils the school has very limited resources and receives very limited funding from the government.
We intend to build a 10 unit latrine block with 5 units for the female pupils and 5 for the males which will make a drastic improvement to the sanitation and health requirements of the school. There is a real need for this project, and by enabling its construction you will be directly involved in improving the education of these students. Education improves people's potential of escaping poverty, as well as aiding their chances
