Jinja, Uganda

Friday 29 May 2009

Right,

I've had a couple of failed attempts at this but here goes.

Arrived safe in Jinja Uganda via Kenya, had the odd experience of going to watch Shaggy in concert on my first night and ended up sleeping in a hotel in the capital Kampala rather than travel Uganda roads at night (they seem to make it up as they go along on the roads here)

Have settled in a feels like I have been here ages. The volunteering has started slowly (slow is the key word around here, no one is in any sort of hurry) It is for me to organise the football and take it from 30lads kicking a ball around on a park to a organised team but even after less than a week I have got them doing drills rathe than just playing matches and it seems to be going down well with the locals with word getting around and people coming along to see wht is happening.

Only two of us int eh house at the momet but 7 more coming next week, starting work with the younger kids on monday which I am really looking forward to as they are so enthusiastic at the sight of a football and a muzungoo (white person) we are local celebs which I am quite enjoying....

Will try to post this now and quit whilst I'm ahead.

Love to you all xxx (not in a gay way)
