Thursday 2 July 2009
It's Thursday afternoon. I sort of have everything but none of it is packed. It's hot and Glastonbury isn't quite out of my system and I would love to fall asleep. Maybe the fairies will do the rest for me while I nap. I fly out of Heathrow at 10:20 tomorrow morning. Will have to overnight in Nairobi, which is a pain, and expensive. But I will land at Kilimanjaro airport before midday on Saturday. That evening I will meet up with the other volunteers and travel down to Machame, a village in the foothills of Kili, where I'll be for six weeks, building and renovating facilities at the local primary school, and hopefully getting involved in some teaching as well. After that I'll scoot around on Safari in the Serengeti and the Ngorongo crater, hop up Kilimanjaro (bank balance permitting), do some more scooting, and finish up in Zanzibar on a sun lounger with a mojito and a beautiful woman... that's the plan anyway.
It would be great if I could tempt you to join me in Zanzibar - I know Jamie and Rory you're pondering it. Otherwise, if all's well, I will be back in the UK some time around the 5th September.
Bye!!
